This Summer, England will be hosting the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022, and the Football Association are looking to seize this opportunity to inspire girls across the country to play football.
On Wednesday 9th March 2022, The FA and Barclays are determined to get as many girls as possible all playing football on the same day – they are calling this the #LetGirlsPlay Biggest Ever Football Session. They want as many schools as possible to take part – whether you are already delivering girls football in your school, or want to take the first step to give girls equal access. You are free to decide when the session will be held. For more information and to sign up to this event, click on the link here: https://girlsfootballinschools.org/letgirlsplay.php

The Football Association are also making available some free resources to engage pupils and bring to life the biggest women’s football event in Europe.
Resources for Key Stage 2 and 3 can be found here https://www.figc-fis.eu/ and further resources will be launched in the Spring and Summer. You can also apply for tickets to the tournament on this website. In addition, they have a ‘Schools Week’ planned for the Women’s Euros from 11th-17th July.
Mims Davies, the MP for Mid Sussex, commented:
“This is a great initiative by the FA and Barclays, and is a fantastic opportunity for girls and all schools to get involved with one of our most beloved national sports. Starting sport at a young age ignites a passion that can stay with you for the rest of your life, keeping you fit, active and involved socially. I am delighted two schools have already signed up to this in Mid Sussex and I look forward to hearing more schools sign up in the weeks to come. I hope everyone involved has a fantastic day and I can’t wait for us to host the Euro’s on home soil later this year.”
