Mims Davies MP encourages safety on our roads ahead of Road Safety Week.
With Road Safety Week approaching from the 17th - 23rd November, 2024, Mims highlights the importance of road safety for all road users.
Every year, more than 1700 people die on UK roads. Another 30,000 receive serious, life-changing injuries. The numbers are shocking, and there has been no significant reduction for more than a decade.
Mims Davies MP said:
This morning I've been in Ardingly meeting with Justine, some of the local residents, and Douglas from the Parish Council - one of the main topics that keeps coming up is road safety.
As the clocks have gone back and the evenings get darker, my inbox is full of residents affected by speeding traffic. Whether it's lorries or people on the school run, we're all busy going about our business, but we must be very conscious of our speed.
So this is a plea as we get into Winter to just be careful on our roads and make sure we're all watching out for other people and of course those vulnerable road users. Where I am right now is an area where Duke of Edinburgh students also use the pathways, as well as the road being used by those on bikes and motorbikes as well.
If we all share the roads in Sussex, we'll all be safer and hopefully, we'll all have those safe journeys home.
