Mims Davies MP pleased to join DHL Parliamentary Drop In
DHL Group employs over 50,000 people across the UK, providing vital supply chain management to provide the everyday, essential products needed by companies and individuals.
They offer fantastic career opportunities for people from entry level roles through to senior management. Employment land and the talent they need are in short supply in the UK, they therefore need a more strategic approach to the role Logistics plays in the UK economy.
Mims was pleased to speak with the team again on different aspects of their business and talk to them further about the role of logistics within the UK economy.
Mims was thrilled to hear DHL is committed to supporting the decarbonisation of transport. It has set global targets to:
- Reduce CO2 emissions, from 39Mt in 2021 to less than 29 Mt by 2030
- Using >30% Sustainable Fuels by 2030 (Air & Road)
- Electrify at least 60% of its delivery vans globally by 2030.
In the UK they can go further and faster with the right policy and economic environment. Their calculations show electrifying their road fleet will require a further 340MW of continuous electrical supply for DHL alone, this is enough to power 440,000 homes.
