Mims Davies MP was thrilled to join Youth Ambassadors from The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award in Westminster.
The DofE is part of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation which supports operators in more than 130 countries and territories to deliver DofE and increase opportunities for young people.
This meeting with inspiring young people provided Mims with the opportunity to hear all about the scheme, what skills they have learnt by partaking in the award, and what it means to them.
The Youth Ambassadors highlighted to Mims what issues are most important to them and their peers. Sharing how many young people care deeply about global issues, such as climate change and human rights, but also issues closer to home which are important to them. From Housing, the NHS, cost of living and mental health.
They also told Mims about the Youth Pledge, a pledge to put youth voice representation at all levels of policy and decision making, especially when it comes to the impact on young people.
For a long time, young people have felt their voices haven't been heard when it comes to the major issues and decisions that shape our world. Youth Voices 2024 – a research study of more than 3,000 14-24 year olds – gives them a platform to share their hopes, worries and priorities for the future.

Mims Davies MP said:
"It was such a pleasure to meet and engage with The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Youth Ambassadors in Westminster this week.
We came together and had an open and honest conversation about what matters most to them. In particular, how we need to make sure that we as politicians listen to our young people about what truly concerns them and how we can help and support them for their futures.
I was also pleased to hear about all the great and amazing achievements they have got out of The Duke of Edinburgh Award. From the crucial life skills, to the opportunities they normally would have normally had access to, to how it's helped them as individuals."
