Mims Davies MP is pleased to announce the Better Patient Safety Consultation is officially open.
The main issues being shared that continue to lead to patient harm are a lack of informed consent; siloed structures; growing health inequalities; a continuing power imbalance between patients and healthcare staff, and a focus on productivity and efficiency instead of patient safety.
The Principles of Better Patient Safety act as a guide for senior leaders in how to design and deliver safer care for patients and reduce avoidable harm.
The principles provide a clear framework for decision-making, planning and working collaboratively with patients as partners. They are relevant for healthcare providers, commissioners, regulators, manufacturers, and the broader supply chain.
Better Patient Safety Principles Include:
- Creating a culture of safety
- Putting patients at the heart of everything
- Treat people as equals
- Identify and act on inequalities
- Identify and mitigate risks
- Be transparent and accountable
- Use information and data to drive improved care and outcomes for patients and help others do the same
Mims would like to encourage everyone to take a few minutes to take part in this consultation and share their views here
This consultation closes on Friday 6th September.
