Mims Davies MP gives constituents a summary of the first few days being back in Westminster after Summer Recess.
Mims Davies MP said:
"Hello from Westminster!
This is our first week back to Westminster after the Summer Recess and we're only half way through and it's already been a busy one as I joined the Chamber for the first PMQs today and the Grenfell Tower statement which was very sobering.
I was really pleased to get into Treasury questions yesterday in the Chamber asking about the potential impact of Gatwick Airport and any changes that may come forward in the pursuit of growth. But ensuring our homes and our livelihoods are not overly impacted without understanding locally or meeting with the Mid Sussex Council.
So, what do MPs do all day?? Well we don't just sit around in our lovely offices like this, I can tell you I've walked miles today!
Starting with yesterday which was a very sporty day as I was at the Take the Lead event about making sport, recreation and physical activity more rounded and I was there with the Sport and Recreation Alliance.
After being asked by constituents, I also joined Christian Aid and CAFOD today about debt and making sure this country do what we can to help across the globe ensuring all communities thrive.
I also popped into the blood cancer report today on taking it out of the shadows and increasing the survival rates here in the UK, which constituents also asked me to attend.
Finally for today, I attended the sexual health event - we've really got to try and change the tide on this, providing better advice, talking about it and really making sure, particularly our young people, know everything they need to to ensure they're safe.
That's all from today and watch out for me tomorrow as I'll be on the tele with ITV and BBC.
It's 2 weeks before we go into Conference Recess, so I'll give you another update soon!"
