Merry Christmas! I hope everyone is having a lovely break and looking forward to the fresh start of a new year. I’ve loved spending down time with my family and as always, had a poignant time joining Darren and the Greenaway Foundation Christmas Hamper Project being a ‘delivery reindeer’. My team and I alongside hundreds of volunteers delivered over 900parcels on Christmas Eve containing ingredients to cook Christmas Dinner to families needing extra support. Darren and his inspiring team are always looking for more volunteers so please do join us next year.
You may have seen I was outside Parliament before Recess alongside Conservative colleagues to join family farmers like 12-year-old Bella and her family, as well as a very special guest-Vicky the cow. Families like Bella's who have farms passed down from generations are aghast and rightly very worried at Labour's FamilyFarmTax. It’s putting livelihoods and futures like Bella's and so many others at risk. The petition to stop the FamilyFarmTax has gathered over a whopping 200,000 signatures and the Government needs to listen and act. We're not letting this go. This is a threat to our food security and farmers’ way of life. So, please remember to shop local and support our hard-working farmers who work to put fresh food on our tables 24/7 365 days a year.
I was delighted to join the Cats Protection team recently in Westminster discussing animal protections and welfare–particularly with the Head Office being in my constituency at Chelwood Gate. It was positive speaking with this great local team and hear about how well all the cats are cared for, not only by staff, but volunteers who go the extra mile to ensure the welfare of their feline residents. They rely on generous donations and volunteers, so if you have some free time and love moggies, please do get in touch with them as they would love to hear from you.
May I thank everyone who is working and keeping us safe and well over the festive season and wish you all a good break when it comes. Here’s to 2025!
