As Minister for Disabled People, I’m highlighting that we launched a consultation this week to help make our disability benefit system fit for the future. This system hasn’t been reviewed in over a decade & we’re determined to update PIP’s ‘one size fits all’ approach recognising how everyone’s individual needs vary. We’re keen to see how we can remove unnecessary benefit assessments wherever possible, provide extra support to those most in need and deliver better value for the taxpayer.
Meanwhile we are delivering on our long-term plan for the environment-there’s been a huge amount of work taking place in DEFRA, over the past decade to leave the environment in a better state for future generations, as well as the ongoing work to support the farmers & landowners that produce our food sustainably & are key to our food security. From crucially strengthening this to agricultural production, animal welfare issues, recycling, water & flood protection & nature recovery-its vital people recognise the action for our area and feel confident on this.

Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex, our local air ambulance charity, needs your support! They’ve recently launched a time-limited £1 million ‘Buy it for Life’ Appeal to help secure ownership of their 2nd helicopter. Saving more lives depends on this as they currently lease it. They’ve vital opportunity to buy it giving them far more security over their helicopter which is a genuine lifeline for people across our area and beyond.
