I’ve met with our Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner-Katy Bourne OBE in her HQ in Lewes- discussing criminal activity concerns, the need for extra Police presence, as well as the ASB, graffiti concerns. I’ll be following this closely and have followed up meetings with senior leaders from Sussex Police particularly as I have sadly heard of more village break ins, so please be vigilant especially with doors and windows open for summer weather.
Students locally had a very important day indeed – A and T level results day with GCSE’s on Thursday! Congratulations to Haywards Heath College, Collyer’s and Uckfield College students and staff on your great outcomes and a huge congratulations to all students for your hard work. If you didn’t quite get the outcome you were hoping for, please take advice/support from your family, friends, and clearing who will have an abundance of information and remember there are amazing degree apprenticeships out there too.
I meet regularly with GTR regarding train cancellations, lack of reliability and connections we’ve been experiencing. I’d another long follow-up meeting and was pleased to meet John-GTR's new COO-at East Grinstead Train station-I was the first MP he’d met since coming into post, where we discussed the absence of continuity, reliability, and lack of trains in general. I’m very pleased to share the NEW and vital timetable update for East Grinstead evening services, Uckfield evening services, and Wivelsfield ‘Access for All’ which I worked on with the former Lewes MP. It’s a real improvement for our area and proof nagging works as MP stands for ‘most persistent’. Details are on my website.
I was delighted to join the 1st East Grinstead Summer Jazz Festival created by the amazing Jenny from the East Grinstead Jazz Club and Meridian FM. Showcasing music performed across the town including St Swithuns Church, Chequer Mead, and The Ship Inn. I was joined by former Mayor Cllr Adam Peacock and Holly ‘The Brain Babe’ who is raising awareness of brain cancer. A magical weekend-congratulations to Jenny, EG Town Council, Being Neighbourly Charity, and volunteers for such a great success.
