Mims Davies MP asks those employing temporary workers to ensure they are fulfilling pension duties
Mims is backing a campaign by The Pension’s Regulator to remind employers of temporary seasonal staff across East Grinstead, Uckfield and the villages they may risk a fine if they don’t comply with their legal pension duties.
The warning comes from The Pensions Regulator (TPR) in an online campaign aimed at employers most likely to hire seasonal temporary workers, including those in the agricultural, horticultural, and hospitality industries.
Your assessment of who to put into a pension scheme may take more time and effort, as you will need to take into account:
- that they may only work for you for short periods of time
- that they may join and leave your employment in the middle of pay periods
- that their earnings and hours vary
Mims Davies MP said:
“It's important every worker is eligible under AE rules is enrolled into a workplace pension scheme and gets the pension they are due.
Even if your additional staff only work for a few days or weeks, employers must assess whether they are eligible to be enrolled into a pension scheme.
