Mims Davies MP celebrates Women In Sports 40th Birthday Party in Parliament, standing with women and girls in sport.
Women In Sport have spent 40 years driving for change, tirelessly advocating for the rights of women and girls in sport, and in society. They are making great strides, but they still need our help and support.
Founded in 1984, Women in Sport is the longest-standing charity in its field with a proud history of securing change for women and girls. At its heart lies a deep understanding of the needs of women and girls in relation to sport and a passion to address the stubborn gender inequalities that still exist.
Based on expert insight, Women in Sport challenges the system, offers solutions and inspires change.
Not only do they and Mims believe in girls and women having access to fair and safe sport for the joy, fulfilment and lifelong benefits it offers, but they also care about this because it can address health inequalities and help society to thrive.
Women In Sports Aims:
To achieve their vision, they aim to further:
- Understand the needs and aspirations of the full diversity of women and girls throughout their lives
- Challenge gender inequality in sport by exposing the problem
- Develop concepts, policies and solutions
- Inspire change through collaboration and influence
- Ensure the charity is highly effective
Mims Davies MP said:
"I had so much fun joining Women in Sports for their 40th birthday celebrations in Parliament this week.
Sport plays a vital role in staying healthy - not only physically, but also mentally, and following National Mental Health Day yesterday - this is very topical indeed.
It was a pleasure to hear about the work they're doing to ensure no woman of girl is excluded from the joy of sport and their hard work closing the gender play gap.
A huge congratulations and thank you to the hard working and dedicated team on four decades of campaigning for equality for women and girls.
