Mims Davies MP was delighted to meet with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home team
The many benefits of pet ownership are well established, and Battersea has much to celebrate, using their expertise to find 3,529 dogs and cats a new forever home in 2023.
But with this, Battersea encounters huge challenges on a daily basis to dog and cat welfare, which have a very real impact on the animals that come through their gates, and also current and prospective pet owners.
Battersea's work goes beyond their three centres. It’s why they share their extensive knowledge, provide invaluable training and grant funding to animal rescue partners around the world, offer online pet advice and training to anyone who needs it, and campaign to improve the lives of dogs, cats, and their owners.

I was delighted to meet with the inspiring Battersea Dogs and Cats Home team this week.
I thank the team for the brilliant opportunity to hear about the pressing issues currently facing the welfare of dogs and cats, including unscrupulous breeding practices, renter's rights to own pets, and safety around dogs.
This brilliant team are conducting amazing work to tackle a number of issues and help me to understand how I can help them to achieve better welfare for dogs and cats.
