Mid Sussex MP, Mims Davies, welcomed school children to Parliament during their visit to London earlier this month.
The schools took part in a free educational tour which gives young people a learning experience about how Parliament works. The children toured the historical buildings at the heart of UK democracy and received an interactive session to learn about how laws are made.
Commenting on the visit, Mims said:
“Making sure the next generations are engaged with our political system and excited about seeing it is so important to our nation as a whole. To that end, it was a pleasure to welcome the children to the Houses of Parliament where they had an opportunity to learn more about how the UK Parliament operates.
It was a brilliant opportunity to hear from our young people, and I cannot understate how impressed I was by the interest and passion around the issues facing the UK from climate change to tackling bullying in our schools.”
If your school is interested in visiting Parliament, there is financial support available for travel costs. Any interested schools can contact the office for guidance and arrangements.
